Tactile Directional Marking Flooring

SKU: 410103

Public-use environments that still lack tactile signage are noncompliant with NBR 16537:2024, Federal Law No. 10,098/2000, and Decree No. 5,296/2004, and are subject to penalties. The Kapazi Directional Tactile Marking Flooring resolves this compliance issue without structural work: 25 x 25 cm panels made of 100% PVC, with raised linear ridges, installed directly over the existing floor using contact adhesive. Each box of 16 units covers 1 m², and light traffic can be permitted after 24 hours.

The linear ridges physically guide the movement of people with visual impairments and can be detected by their feet, footwear, and long canes. Available in Yellow, Royal Blue, and Black, the product provides the color contrast required to also serve users with low vision; the project should select the color that ensures a minimum difference of 30 LRV points from the adjacent floor. To create a complete accessible route, the Directional model should be combined with the Kapazi Warning model, which indicates points requiring attention along the route.

1
Clean the floor
Clean the installation area with a cloth dampened with alcohol to remove dust, grease, and residue. Wait until it is completely dry before proceeding.
2
Mark the locations
Using masking tape, mark the positions of each tile on the floor according to the layout defined in accordance with NBR 16537:2024.
3
Apply the contact adhesive
Apply contact adhesive with a spatula to both the floor surface and the back of the tile, covering the entire contact area evenly.
4
Wait for the adhesive to dry
Observe the drying time indicated by the adhesive manufacturer before joining the surfaces. This step is essential to ensure maximum adhesion.
5
Position and press the tile
Position each tile over the marking and press firmly, ensuring uniform adhesion across the entire surface.
6
Wait before allowing traffic
Allow light traffic only after 24 hours. Perform resistance tests only after 48 hours. Carry out the first cleaning only 72 hours after installation. The adhesive’s total curing time is 7 days.
Before you begin
The installation surface must be smooth, even, clean, and dry. Do not install on rough, uneven, or constantly damp surfaces, as adhesive bonding will be compromised. Also avoid installing on rainy days or in high-humidity conditions.
Layout planning
Before starting the installation, define the tactile route layout in accordance with ABNT NBR 16537:2024. The width and color of the strips must remain consistent throughout the route. Use the Directional model to indicate the path and the Warning model at critical points, such as the beginnings of stairs, ramps, elevator entrances, and changes in direction.
Complementarity of the models
The Directional model, with linear relief, must be used together with the Warning model, with rounded relief, to create a functional and technically correct accessible route in accordance with NBR 16537:2024. Using only one of the models is insufficient to ensure complete guidance and safety.
Color contrast
The standard requires a minimum difference of 30 LRV points (relative luminance value) between the tactile signage and the adjacent floor, both when dry and wet. Choose the color (Yellow, Royal Blue, or Black) based on the contrast with the existing floor.

Routine cleaning

Cleaning must be done manually, taking care to preserve the relief patterns and the integrity of the PVC.

1
Clean with a damp cloth or soft brush
Use a damp cloth or soft brush with water and mild soap. Wipe the surface of the panels, including the relief patterns, to remove dust and surface dirt.
2
Rinse and dry
Remove soap residue with a clean, damp cloth and then dry the surface.
✓ Pode usar

✗ Não pode usar

Alcohol
Alkaline detergents
High-pressure water (water jet)

Using solvents, thinner, alcohol, alkaline detergents, or high-pressure water may degrade the PVC surface, alter the relief patterns, and shorten the product's service life. The first cleaning should only be carried out 72 hours after installation to avoid compromising the curing of the adhesive.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I use this directional tactile paving?

Directional tactile paving is suitable for indoor or protected outdoor environments with smooth and uniform flooring, such as corridors, reception areas, halls, hospitals, schools, banks, and shopping malls. For open outdoor areas with high traffic or significant exposure to rain and humidity, materials such as ceramic or concrete are more appropriate, as adhesive fixing may be compromised. Ensure the installation surface is smooth, firm, clean, and dry.

How is the installation done? Do I need to do construction work?

No structural work is needed: installation is done by direct adhesion to the existing floor with contact adhesive. Simply clean the floor with a cloth dampened with alcohol, mark the layout according to NBR 16537:2024, apply adhesive to both the floor and the back of the plate, and press firmly until it adheres. Light traffic can be allowed after 24 hours, and the total curing time for the adhesive is 7 days.

How do I clean tactile paving without damaging it?

Cleaning should be done manually with water and mild soap, using a damp cloth or soft brush. The use of solvents, thinners, alcohol, alkaline detergents, and high-pressure water is prohibited, as these products degrade PVC, compromising the reliefs and the lifespan of the plates. These simple precautions ensure the functional integrity of the product over time.

Does this product last a long time with intensive use?

The product is made of 100% PVC, a material known for its durability, moisture resistance, and ease of maintenance in protected indoor or outdoor environments. The warranty against manufacturing defects is 1 year. To extend its lifespan, follow the installation and cleaning instructions correctly, avoid unsuitable surfaces, and respect the adhesive's curing time before allowing traffic.

What are the technical specifications of the boards and how do I choose the right color?

Each tile measures 25 x 25 cm, has a total thickness of 5.8 mm at the top of the raised patterns, and weighs 0.35 kg. The box contains 16 units, covering exactly 1 m² per package. The available colors, Yellow, Royal Blue, and Black, were selected to ensure high chromatic contrast over the most common floorings, meeting the NBR 16537:2024 requirement for a minimum difference of 30 LRV points between the tactile signage and the adjacent floor. Therefore, choose the color that offers the greatest contrast to your existing floor.
